Greetings,

We have some great news to share with you today. Our recent positive COVID-19 case in our community in which we were informed of earlier this week has been determined to be negative or “false positive.” After numerous tests performed on this individual, which resulted in negative tests, their physician has deemed them COVID-19 negative.

We are now able to resume our few hospitality services consisting of small group activities and outdoor visitation. Our residents will again be able to enjoy socializing with their friends in small groups and have the opportunity to visit with their loved ones in safe, coordinated outdoor visits.

We remain vigilant in continuing to regularly assess temperatures and signs and symptoms of our residents throughout the day, as well as employees at the start of every shift and mid-shift. Infection control and prevention procedures continue to be common and routine in our community, however, heightened during this time. To attempt to control the spread of the virus, it is our continued recommendation to shelter in place.

We will still follow the Madison County Health Department recommendation and continue with our COVID-19 testing for all residents and staff on Friday, July 17th. Once again, we anticipate receiving these results within 72 hours and will update as soon as results are received.

July 13th, 2020

It is an ever-changing healthcare climate as the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues in our cities, across the country and world. Thank you for your patience, as it is our priority to directly care for your loved ones at Evergreen Place in Alton. We do understand the importance of timely communication and education and intend to give regular updates.

We can share with you that our community has had a positive COVID-19 test result received. Privacy laws prevent us from sharing details with you, for example, names of residents or team members, areas of the building, apartment numbers, etc. Thank you for your understanding as we preserve our residents’ and team members’ privacy and dignity.

We can also share that we are in constant communication with the Madison County Health Department, following their guidance and ensuring the proper protocols are being followed to minimize the additional risk of exposure to our residents as well as our team members. We are regularly screening temperatures of residents throughout the day, and employees at the start of every shift and mid-shift. Infection control and prevention procedures are standard and routine in our community, however, heightened during this time. To attempt to control the spread of the virus, it is our continued recommendation to sheltering in place. For our residents, this means staying in their apartment. We ask for your assistance in emphasizing the importance of this measure with your loved one through your calls, virtual visits, and emails. They love hearing from you!

Last month we communicated a few alternative hospitality services to be introduced, including small group activities and outdoor visitation; however, due to our current circumstances, we have had to suspend those options. As our situation changes, we will absolutely re-evaluate when we can safely attempt to introduce those services again. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Please use this link, https://www.evergreenslc.com/alton/updates, to gain regular updates; however, I am happy to take your calls and questions if urgent. I realize how startling this communication may be; rest assured, we have never worked harder to protect your loved ones. We love them too.
